Change

Psychotherapy — a chance to step outside your daily life, learn new skills, regain hope, find a fresh perspective. This may be the space for you to reenergize, reconnect and try something new.

Shift

In practice, I am clear, curious and connected. With warm support and gentle compassion, I promote inner strength and resiliency, and will challenge you to grow and face difficult learning about yourself as it arises. I will say what needs to be said in kindness and I will join you in what seems unbearable. I am open to forming a deep connection and will actively seek to bring your experience forward in an environment that is safe, respectful and energized while striving to help you change in ways that make a difference in the relationships and contexts of your life.

Flourish

I care deeply about people seeking to better understand themselves and their lives so they can live more freely and authentically. In the world of AI, podcasts, reels, and endless information – it seems the answers are a click away. This can be both valuable and overwhelming. In the midst of this glut of information, slowing down and deeply being seen as a unique individual have become invaluable.

Psychotherapy works best when you build a trusting, safe relationship with your psychologist. I have been privileged to be part of many meaningful psychotherapy relationships and have had the joy and satisfaction of witnessing substantial growth and change in people. Previous clients have found value in my ability to work from different approaches.

What I Do

Initial Consultation

Always complimentary, let’s book a 15 minute phone consult to help you get a feel for me and my approach. I will also assess whether my skill set would be helpful to you.

Adult Individual Psychotherapy

My style fits best for adults who sincerely wish to make changes in their life. Common reasons people seek therapy include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, life stage change, personal growth (in many areas), and overcoming trauma.

RCMP/Veterans

I regularly work with first responders, particularly RCMP (Active, ODS, and Retired), and Veterans. I am an approved provider with VAC and RCMP.

Initial Consult

Consultation for provisional psychologists, psychotherapists and other counsellors in training is available. I pay particular attention to personal growth and development, and work with a broad range of theoretical systems.

Medicine Work – Integration and Preparation

Ancient plant wisdom is reigniting hope in the power of plant medicine to promote healing. The ethical imperative to work carefully, thoughtfully, and gently with these medicines means the context is vital to fully benefit from the courage and energy this work takes. Conscious preparation and slow deliberate integration allow a person to maximize, in mind and body, what they may gain from a medicine session. I book sessions to ethically support preparation/intention setting and integration. I do not currently guide medicine work.

Spirituality

Your spiritual and religious beliefs are important and influence your ability to overcome  difficulty, ease suffering and engage in growth. I am comfortable including any aspect of your life that informs your concern or provides strength to you, including your spiritual and religious beliefs and practices.

A Bit About Me

I have been a psychologist since 2005, and have a Ph.D in Counselling Psychology. For decades, I have been curious about how humans change. I’ve found joy, satisfaction, and challenge in exploring how to relieve suffering and encourage growth with people in psychotherapy, as a teacher, graduate program chair, researcher and supervisor.

I am deeply committed to creating a compassionate ethical practice, therefore I hold memberships with the following organizations:

  • College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia
  • BC Psychological Association
  • Psychedelic Association of Canada
  • Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies
  • Canadian Register of Health Service Psychologists

Like all of us, my life has contained many changes – some chosen, some unexpected. I have lived across this country – beginning in Ontario, my birthplace, and various parts of Alberta and BC. I was a wife at 21, a mother twice and the first female in my family to pursue doctoral education. I have wrestled with moving away from the faith I was raised in, moved through a divorce in my 30’s, and navigated the complexities of single parenting. I met my husband in 2013 and came back to the Fraser Valley in 2015, remarried and am experiencing the joys and challenges that come with blending families and midlife parenting. Life continues to provide opportunities for growth.
